Freedom Days week is fun and plentiful

Freedom Days officially kicked off last Sunday with a BBQ Bash and continued all week with numerous picnics, parties and events at various venues leading up to Saturday’s epic parade and family fun fest.

Monday, the medallion hunt clues started with clues posted to the BCC website. The community center held a Bubble Party later in the day for youngsters to come out to the Splash Pad and get soaked or dance along with the DJ.

Tuesday, citizens with chipped windshields could stop by the American Family Insurance - Amy Chmielewski office to get the chip repaired for free by Abra Auto. Steil Insurance served walking tacos at lunchtime and the History Center had an ice cream social.

Wednesday, Sherburne State Bank held their annual customer appreciation lunch on the lawn in front of their building where they also had a bouncy house for kids and ice cream desserts. The BASC held a senior popcorn bingo event later in the day.

Thursday, the Professional Building tenants held a drive-thru lunch from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Friday, Becker Blends hosted a customer appreciation day. Hot dogs, Pepsi, water and chips were served at Bill’s Family Foods. The Becker Farmer’s Market commenced at 3 p.m. at Becker Furniture World while the Becker Blast softball tournament began their competition.

A car show was held in the parking lot at Becker Schools while a city-wide worship service was held at Becker Furniture’s green space. Live music was played and food was served at the Becker Legion from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m.

Saturday, Bill’s Family Foods again is serving food and drink all day and the parade will take off at 2 p.m. from the BHS parking lot and travel through parts of the city to the delight of parade watchers. A Freedom Days flag craft is being held at Kolbinger Park from noon until 1 p.m. and the family fun fest (games, inflatables, face painting, etc.) starts at around 3:30 p.m. and runs until 7:30 p.m.

The Becker Dance team will hold a performance at the green space at 4 p.m. while the dancers from Starz Dance Studio will perform right after.

From 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., the Honey Badgers will perform live music to fair goers and Free & Easy will mount the stage from 8 p.m. to 11 p.m.

And of course, the spectacular fireworks show will fill the skies at dusk.

It’s a week worth remembering!
