The Duelm Lions were honored to serve a Valentine’s Day lunch to local seniors.
Valentine’s Day is known for showing love and appreciation. Lions’ members invited seniors to come to this lunch to connect with neighbors and friends for this reason.
Lion President Sheila Worm welcomed guests followed by an Invocation prayer and song by Fr. Glen Lewandowski OSC.
Lion members were joined by young people from the Duelm 4H Club and STFX confirmation students, who helped serve over 160 guests. Some meals were delivered to guests who could not attend.
Special touches including roses and Valentine’s cards were given to guests.
The Lions thank St. John’s school, Foley Elementary students, and St. Lawrence Church CCD students for handmade Valentine cards. The hall was generously donated by St. Lawerence Church.
“It is our sincere pleasure to serve our community this Valentine’s lunch in February,” said a member of the Duelm Lions Club. “If you have a desire to serve with us, we welcome new members.
The Duelm Lions started in 2004 and have approximately 70 members. Meetings are held at Jack and Jim’s Restaurant in Duelm, at 7:30 p.m. the last Tuesday of each month.
