Bulldog boys remain atop M8

Another two conference wins in the past week have kept the Becker boys basketball team atop the rankings in the Mississippi 8 Conference.

Wildcats

Last Thursday, the Bulldogs hosted Chisago Lakes and were able to hit their shots down the stretch for a 73-67 win.

The Wildcats led by one, 39-38 at halftime, but Becker clamped down defensively in the second half to secure the win.

Becker’s dynamic offensive tandem of Brady Paumen and Julias Hendricks each scored 19 points for the Bulldogs, while Paumen was a menace on the defensive end of the floor. He gathered 10 rebounds to complete his double-double and added five blocks to go along with two assists.

Becker scoring: Bengtson 5, Weiss 5, Vogl 2, Blomquist 13, Brown 3, Hendricks 19, Paumen 19, Soltau 7.

Vikings

Tuesday night, Becker needed OT to remain perfect in the M8, as the Bulldogs outdistanced North Branch 80 to 75.

Becker led at halftime 36 to 33, and the second half was also an even affair with both teams tied at 68 at the end of regulation. In the overtime period, Becker gained a 12 to 7 scoring advantage to secure the win.
