Local restaurant Cambo Flare will be hosting a visit from America’s Best Restaurants (ABR) in early April 2024.
America’s Best Restaurants, a national media and marketing company focusing on bringing attention to local, independently-owned restaurants, will bring its ABR Roadshow to the restaurant on April 8. Popular dishes will be highlighted, along with an extensive on-camera interview with owners Mike and Tone Nget about the restaurant’s special place in the community. The episode will be aired extensively on social media channels at a later date.
After eight years operating out of a food truck with a limited menu, the Ngets opened their brick-and-mortar restaurant in late 2020.
They offer Asian fusion cuisine – Tone is from Cambodia and a self-taught cook -- with a variety of dishes and a specialty of ‘sticks’, or beef and chicken skewers marinated in a family recipe, and are also available vacuum-sealed to take home and grill.
More unusual menu items include Purple SKOL rolls, egg rolls with red cabbage and seasoned pork named after the Minnesota Vikings; seasoned fried quail; and wontons with key lime or blueberry filling. They also offer drinks such as boba tea, Dalgona whipped coffee and ‘Cambo Soda’, a fruit-flavored handmade bubbly drink with basil seeds.
Cambo Flare made national news in 2022 by being one of the first restaurants in the state to accept cryptocurrency as a form of payment in the restaurant. They have even gone a step further by developing their own currency which is called CamboCoin.
America’s Best Restaurants will be filming on location on Monday April 8 from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. CST. The press is invited to attend. The restaurant’s finished episode premiere date will be announced on their Facebook page and will be featured on America’s Best Restaurants’ website at https://americasbestrestaurants.com/rests/minnesota/cambo-flare.
