Options, Inc.,  celebrated their official groundbreaking of Blackbird Laundry Co., on Tuesday, August 19 at 10:00 a.m. 

More than just a place to wash clothes, Blackbird Laundry Co. represents a bold step forward in inclusive employment and community engagement. The two-story building will house a state-of-the-art laundromat on the main floor and two rental apartments above, bringing both employment opportunities and much-needed housing to the area. Their goal is to further their mission in developing employment and skill-building opportunities for the people they serve, and to bring a much needed service to their home town. This project reflects the organization’s values of innovation, community partnership and belief in the abilities of all people. 

Brenda Geldert, Executive Director of Options, Inc. and Matt Carlson, Director of Program and Operations at Options Inc. along with staff, clients, and a great crowd of supporters celebrated the start of construction on the new facility. Geldert spoke to the crowd about Options, Inc. and the work they do along with the continuing services they will now provide for both the community and the people they serve. 

The Big Lake Chamber thanked them for their contribution to the community and wished them much success. Blackbird Coffee and water was served as people mingled. The new facility will be located on the corner of Fern Street and Martin Avenue.
