Becker Public School Board Chairman Mark Swanson was recently recognized for earning the President’s Award for the 2022-23 school year. 

The President’s Award is given to those individuals who complete 300 or more hours of attendance at Minnesota School Board Association-sponsored meetings and activities. The award is only being bestowed to 15 board members throughout the state in 2022. 

“We are extremely grateful for Mr. Swanson’s 12 years of service and dedication to the school board,” said Supt. Jeremy Schmidt. 

The Becker School Board consists of six members elected at-large for terms of up to four years. Swanson is ending his term as Chairman of the Board, having served alongside Aaron Jurek (Director), Connie Robinson (Vice Chair), Pete Weismann (Director), Ryan Obermoller (Clerk), and Troy Berning (Director) over the past calendar year.

The Minnesota School Board Association will be hosting the 2023 Leadership Conference and Recognition Luncheon Thurs., January 12, 2023. Swanson will be presented with a certificate and pin recognizing his many hours of service as a school board member.
