Clear Lake fire hosts water rescue training

Clear Lake fire does ice water rescue on a regular basis. This is required of all firefighters.

While doing this training, they wear special water suits, learn techniques that allow them to be warm and float. This allows the rescuers to safely get the victims out. The rescuers use a lot of rope where every rescuer is tied to their own rope, along with a rope tied on a sled, if they utilize this method in the rescue. The group consists  of a team of firefighters waiting to pull on the ropes when the rescuers are ready.

Every rescuer plays a huge part and has to pay attention closely, so when their part comes, they are ready to make this a successful and safe rescue.

The Clear Lake Fire Department encourages everyone to please be safe out on the ice and remember ice can be very unpredictable.
