Last weekend, local resident Robert Hamner celebrated his 100th birthday with family and friends at Snake River Church.
In the late 1920’s through the 1930’s, Robert Hamner attended Snake River School District 22 (one room school) in Becker Township, which was located close to where Snake River Church now sits.
Robert and his classmates at Snake River school would play ball against neighboring one-room schools, such as Kragero, District 20, and Santiago one room schools. The one room schools often attended each other’s Halloween parties and Christmas programs.
This is Hamner’s 77th year on his farm north of Snake River Church in Becker Twp.
Hamner is a storehouse of memories and would advise people not to worry about the future. It seems like that advice has served him well, as he celebrated his 100th birthday earlier this month.
A wonderful time was had by all who attended the 100th birthday celebration.
