During the recent Big Lake City Council meeting, three officers were promoted within the Big Lake Police Department. 

Officer Sam Norlin and Officer Guy Chaffee were both promoted to the role of patrol sergeant. Officer Sam Olson was promoted to the role of Captain. 

The three officers all were sworn into office anew and thanked by Chief John Kaczmarek for their dedication. He expressed his total confidence in the three officers in their new roles. 

Officer Tyler Hecht is also due to be sworn in to his new role as K9 handler. The new K9 officer will be sworn in as well. Both officers are in training currently but will appear before the council for their oath of office once their training is complete. 

In Other Business, the Council:

• Heard department reports from the BLFD, BLPD, and city administrator;

• Appointed Doug Peterson, Megan Weber, and Kameron Hanson to the parks advisory committee;

• Approved change orders to 2021 Street Projects for an additional cost of $62,283.10.
