A group of Becker K-6th grade youth wrestlers placed seventh out of 32 teams at The Brawl, an event held at St. Michael Albertville Jan. 19.
Becker entered the tournament unseeded and proceeded to beat #9-seeded Prior Lake 44-37, #8-seeded Northfield 48-27 and #7-seeded Waconia, 38-30.
The team lost to the #1 seed, Albert Lea, 36-31 and to the #5-seed Tri City United, 43-25.
The top 20 teams were seeded going into the tournament. The remaining 12 teams were drawn into brackets.
Not only were the Bulldogs unseeded, but they were also forfeiting one weight class.
This tournament is the largest K-6th grade team wrestling event in the world, making the Guiness Book of World Records.
Becker wrestlers involved in the tournament were: Jacob Williams, Odin Duncombe, Boston Kuschel, Bennett Kujawa, Kipton McDonald, Tyler Hall, Isaac Daluge, Landen Kujawa, Kaden Nicolas, Cash Stortz, Drew May, Kaden Rish, Noah McDonald, Ethan Duncombe, Tyson Ricker, Dylan Weber and Lance Lysdal.
The Bulldogs are coached by Luke Fox, Tim Kujawa and Matt Kuschel.
