Becker youth wrestling had another great weekend of competition at two major national tournaments Dec. 30-31.
Rumble on the Red
Several area wrestlers competed at the Rumble on the Red individual youth tournament in Fargo, ND, where over 800 youth competed.
Kindergartner Rylan Kujawa won the 6U, 55-lb. bracket. Second grader Jacob Williams placed second in the 8U, 50-lb. bracket. Fifth grader Kaden Nicolas placed third in the 12U, 75-lb. bracket. Fifth grader Owen Angel placed fifth in the 10U, 85-lb. bracket.
Other wrestlers who competed but did not place include Odin Duncombe, Tyler Hall, Bennett Kujawa, Blayne Kuschel, Boston Kuschel, Isaac Deluge and Drew May.
Bennett Kujawa wrestled with TC Wrestling in the 9U team tournament and took first place. Nicolas and May also competed with Takedown Gym in the 12U team tournament, taking eighth place out of 20 teams. Angell wrestled with Scoring Edge in the 12U team tournament, taking ninth place.
Badgerland Nationals
In Wisconsin, youth wrestlers competed in the Badgerland Nationals, where 700 wrestlers were entered.
Rylan Kujawa placed second in the Pre-K-Kindergarten, 55-lb. bracket. Kuschel took fourth in the 1st-2nd grade, 60-lb. bracket. Fifth grader Cash Stortz placed fifth in the 5th-6th grade, 78-lb. bracket. Fifth grader Lance Lysdal wrestled in the tournament but did not place.
