The Becker Bulldog boys wrestling team finished off the regular season in Albany, then participated in the Section 6AA playoff tournament this weekend, only to fall to Dassel-Cokato in the first round.

 

Becker traveled to Foley High School Thursday to compete in the Section 6AA wrestling playoffs. Their first opponent was #9-seeded Dassel-Cokato and the #8-seeded Bulldogs fell to the Chargers, 34-25.

152-lbs.: Jon Schwartz (BB) 7-0 decision over Nick Selseth  (DC); 160-lbs.: Gaven Gillman (DC) fall at 0:42 over Brayden Weber (BB); 170-lbs.: Jacob Schmitz (DC) fall at 3:21 over  Lincoln Carlson (BB); 182-lbs.: Jareth Hoernemann (DC) 5-4 decision over Jaylin Hildebrant (BB); 195-lbs.: Logan Polzin (DC) fall at 3:34 over Brady Gruenhagen (BB); 220-lbs.: Johnny Goodin (DC) fall at 3:22 over Austin Benkowski (BB); 285-lbs.: Casey Vesledahl (BB) fall at 1:49 over Brok Huikko (DC).

 

The wrestling team finished third in their final meet of the regular season at an eight-team Albany Purple Pride Invitational last Friday.

 

Vesledahl (27-2) won first place at 285-lbs. when he beat Tyler Baird (17-8) of Albany 1-0 in the championship bout. 

 

Hildebrandt (22-7, 182-lbs.), Demant (10-7, 145-lbs.) and Paulson (12-5, 106-lbs.) took second places in their respective weight classes. 

 

Josh Lumley (17-9) took third at 120-lbs., Kevin Andres (9-7) third at 126-lbs., Logan Jurek (7-4) fourth at 126-lbs., Adam Bauman (18-14) fourth at 132-lbs., Mikey James (4-9) fourth at 138-lbs., Brady Gruenhagen (2-5) third at 195-lbs. and Austin Benkowski (4-15) sixth at 220-lbs.

The Bulldogs will compete individually next Friday and Saturday at Annandale High School with times and opponents to be determined.
