The Becker Bulldog wrestling team traveled to Albany High School Tuesday to compete in a dual against the Huskies and the  Belgrade-Brooten Elrosa Jaguars.

 

Saturday, the team took third place  in Delano out of 10 teams. The Bulldogs had nine place winners, three finalist and one champion (Jake Nelson).  Nelson took first at 106-lbs. and Lukas Paulson (120-lbs.) and Jaylin Hildebrant (182-lbs.) took second places.

In a closely-scored match against Belgrade-Brooten-Elrosa Tuesday, the Bulldogs escaped with a three-point victory thanks to Nick Radunz, who wrestled at heavyweight.

 

The Bulldogs found themselves ahead at 27-18 after Hildebrandt scored a major decision over his opponent at 182-lbs. However, BBE got two consecutive pins over their opponents to leap to a 30-27 lead heading into the final match of the day.

 

Radunz provided the heroics as he pinned his opponent at 1:23 for the team win.

The Bulldogs traveled to Milaca Friday night to take on Milaca/Faith Christian. Tuesday they hit the road for Rocori to take on the Spartans.

 

Becker’s record is 4-1 and 1-1 in Granite Ridge Conference play. Their wrestler of the week is Nelson, who improved his season record to 8-0.

 

Hildebrandt notched his 60th career win Tuesday when he beat Guzier of BBE in a 10-1 decision.
