The Bulldog wrestling team closed out their regular season play with a second place finish at the Albany Purple Pride Invitational last Friday.
Eight teams participated in the tournament with Hutchinson winning with a 228 score. Becker tallied a 187.5.
Jake Nelson (24-4) captured first place in his weight class (106-lbs.). He beat Dustin Schmitt of Albany in the championship match by a fall at 2:58.
Kylen Rish (12-7) also took first place (113-lbs.) when he beat Will Mergen of Albany with a fall at 3:45 of the championship match.
Becker’s Caden Dewall (1-2) finished in sixth place at 120-lbs. as he lost to Tommy Nosbush of Mora in the fifth place match by a 5-1 decision.
Josh Lumley (12-3) nabbed first place at 126-lbs. when he won a 6-1 decision over Jordan Lindquist of Mora in the championship bout.
Blake Paulson (16-11) took fourth and Kevin Andres (12-9) fifth at 132-lbs. Paulson lost to Gage Zieske of Osakis in the third place match by a major decision (13-5) and Andres dropped Ashton Brandner of Apollo with a fall at 44 seconds of the fifth place match.
Colten Demant (22-10) finished second at 138-lbs. when he lost to Payton Schiefelbein of Kimball in the championship match by a fall at 47 seconds.
Adam Bauman (18-10) captured third place at 145-lbs. when he pinned Logan Wenzel of Albany at 3:08 of the third place match.
At 152-lbs., Mikey James (17-10) took home fourth place after he lost to Logan Wadsworth of Hutchinson by 4-2 decision.
At 160-lbs., Lincoln Carlson (1-3) took sixth after he lost by a 6-1 decision to Austin Olmscheid of Albany in the fifth place match.
Brayden Weber (8-8) took fourth place at 170-lbs. after he lost to Jacob Gilk of Albany by fall at 2:54.
Jaylin Hildebrandt (23-7) took third at 182-lbs. when he pinned Chris Hance of Apollo at 1:54.
Nick Goth (2-3) took sixth at 195-lbs. after he lost by a 6-4 decision in the fifth place match to Nick Gill of Apollo.
Scott Braun (2-14) also finished sixth after he was pinned by Jim Wicker of Kimball at 3:41 of the fifth place championship match.
At heavyweight (285-lbs.), Nick Radunz (20-11) lost to Marvin Stang of Albany by a 6-1 decision in the championship match to finish second.

The #5 seeded Bulldogs compete in the Class 6AA team tournament today (Saturday) at Foley High School against the #4-seeded Delano Tigers at noon. The winner will wrestle at 2 p.m. most likely against the #1-seeded Litchfield Dragons.
