JUNIOR BRINLEY ZOLLER had a solid two games for Becker this week, finishing with 17 assists against Albany Tuesday and 20 against Little Falls Thursday.

Volleyball Team Moves To 12 3 With A Split

The Becker Bulldog volleyball team split two games this past week to improve to 12-3.

The Bulldogs had a rocky match Thursday in Little Falls with a lot of ups and downs against the Flyers. 
 
“We are still working out the kinks without Brynn Barthel as our starting middle,” said Head Coach Kristina Sloan. “We ran many aggressive hitting routes and put up a strong defense, but we really struggled with serving and serve receive.”
 
In the end, Becker prevailed in four sets, 25-16, 22-25, 25-20, 26-24.
 
Daisy Kent had 17 assists and Brinkley Zoller 20. Sam Angell had nine kills and 11 digs; Kalie Jergens had 18 kills, eight digs and three aces; Kalley Anderson had seven kills and four blocks and Alexa Hanowski had 30 digs.
 
Albany 3, Becker 1
 
Valerie Parker had 48 set assists and 14 digs to lead the Huskies past Becker in a Granite Ridge Conference match Tuesday night in Becker.
 
“We came out tonight knowing we were going to play a strong team,” said Sloan. “The girls were moving and passing really well the first game.  From there we fell apart. Our serve receive struggled and with that we couldn’t run an offense.” 
 
The Bulldogs lost the services of Barthel last week and were forced to move some girls around. 
 
Albany was also highlighted by Erin Navratil, who was 20-for-20 serving and had 12 digs. Abby Wunderlich had 14 kills and 14 digs for the Huskies (5-1 Granite Ridge, 12-5 overall).
Becker got 24 assists from Kent and 17 from Zoller. 
 
Angell  had 18 kills in 41 attempts; Jergens had 12 kills in 36 attempts; Anderson had six kills in 19 attempts; Hope Amundson had three kills in 11 attempts and Jessica Gruber had two kills in 13 attempts.
 
On defense, Hanowski had 21 digs; Carly Baumgartner had five digs and one ace; Angell had nine digs,  two blocks and one ace; Jergens had three digs,  three blocks and one ace; Gruber had three blocks and Anderson had 10 blocks.
 
The scores were: 20-25, 25-16, 25-15, 25-23.

Today (Saturday), the Bulldogs play in Mora at 9 a.m., then return home for matches against St. Cloud Cathedral Tuesday and Milaca Friday.
