Two Becker youth wrestlers made the podium at the Midwest Wrestling Tour's Gopher State Nationals held in Monticello last Saturday.
Over 1,100 wrestlers from more than 10 states in the union traveled to compete in this prestigious tournament. The Gopher State Nationals has earned the reputation being one of the best run tournaments in the country.
Sixth grader Mason Doucette wrestled well and placed third in the fifth-sixth grade, 86-lb bracket.
Third grader Kaden Nicolas was outstanding as he placed second in the third grade, 60-lb bracket. Nicolas also earned his Midwest Wrestling Tour belt for placing in three of the MWT tournaments (Badgerland Nationals in Wisconsin, Jackrabbit Nationals in South Dakota and Gopher State).
Becker had five other wrestlers participate besides Doucette and Nicolas and they included Bennet Kujawa, Owen Angell, Ethan Anderson, Tyson Ricker and Bennett Edling.
