The Becker High School Trap Shooting team wrapped up it's regular season last week.
The Bulldogs took second place in Class AAA Conference 4 and second place overall in Class AAA with 20824.5 points, finishing behind a tough Hibbing High School team that had 22642 points. Third place was Lester Prairie/Holy Trinity with 18076.5 points.
“We had another impressive year and finishing in second place was no small feat since we moved up a class this season,” said Head Coach Chris Keeler. “It took a whole team effort and the student athletes really performed well.”
Becker’s top shooter this season was Kyle Schroeder, with a season average of 23.5, placing him top in the conference and in the top 100 all season long.
“Not a bad place to be out of 10,000+ athletes,” said Keeler.
Becker’s other top shooters were Tanner Hammer, with an average of 22.7 and Matthew Stone, with an average of 22.4.
The top ladies were Alayna Roske at 18.9, Maria Sakry with 18.3 and Heidi Voigt with 18.2.
Schroeder and Dan Tollefson finished up the year shooting perfect 25's, earning them recognition on the league website, a nice patch to show their efforts and a Dairy Queen "clay buster parfait" certificate from coach Keeler.
“The coaching staff can't express the pride we have in these student athletes and the hard work, dedication and fun they show in their sport,” said Keeler. “Also, they are true ambassadors of the shooting sports by demonstrating safety, responsibility, leadership and sharing that in their daily lives.”
Keeler and the coaching staff would also like to thank the parents of their fine athletes for sharing their dedication and time, as well as the support they provide the team.
“Also, a thank you to the Becker schools for their support of this remarkable sport and team also,” Keeler said. “It wouldn't happen without all of these things coming together.”
