HURDLER Logan Gallus cleared the hurdles on his way to finishing the 300 hurdles for the Becker boys track team Tuesday.
SOPHOMORE MORGAN YOUNGDAHL took fourth place in the long jump Tuesday as becker hosted their first home meet in nine years.

Track Teams Host First Home Meet In Nine Years

The Becker boys and girls track team held their first home track meet in nine years Tuesday afternoon under sunny skies and warm temperatures.

Girls Track
The meet was a triangular with two other Granite Ridge teams (Little Falls and Zimmerman) participating.
 
Girls Scores: 1). Little Falls 59.6; 2). Becker 37; 3). Zimmerman 31.3.
 
“It was a beautiful night and the kids had some very good performances,” said Head Coach Trish Reimer-Kealy. “We had 15 personal record performances and a few season bests as well.”
 
Hannah Schmidt placed first in the 200 (28.82), second in the pole vault (9'6”), tied for second in high jump (4'10) and took third in the 100 (14.35).
 
Becker had first and second place finishes in the 200 with Michaela Manifold taking second with a PR time (29.02). The Bulldogs finished first and second in the 300 hurdles as well. Aubree Lahr earned a PR for first place (52.08) and Montanna Edling a PR for second (52.87). 
 
Edling also placed third in the 100 hurdles (18.79). In the 400 dash, Becker took second, third and fourth with Maesyn Thiesen running a time of 63.76, Michaela Manifold 66.29 (PR) and Lauren Brower  with a PR of 66.79.
 
Madi Kealy ran her season best time for the open 800 (2:37.13) to take second place. Jada Rositas ran a PR in the same race (2:49.38) to place fourth.  
In the 3200 meter run, Allie Hendrickson placed third (13:13.28).
 
Becker’s relays placed second in the 4x800 with a season best time of 11:11.78 (Madi Kealy, Renee Tripp, Allie Hendrickson, Mauren Thiesen).  
 
In the 4x200 relay, Becker placed second (1:55.94 Haley Olsen, Michaela Manifold, Maesyn Thiesen, Shannon Sydow) in a close race to the finish with Little Falls.
 
  In the 4x100, Becker took second in 55:83  with Haley Olsen, Morgan Youngdahl, Haley Hubbard and Shannon Sydow running the race.  
 
In the 4x400, Aubree Lahr, Madi Kealy, Kassidi Severson and Maesyn Thiesen came in second to Little Falls.
 
In the field events, senior Marissa earned a PR  (31'1 1/2) in the shot put for third place that moved her up a notch on the Becker honor roll.
 
Along with Schmidt tying for second in the high jump, Deedra Lawrence placed fourth (4'4). 
 
Haley Olsen achieved her fourth PR in as many meets, placing second (14' 11) in the long jump while Youngdahl placed fourth (14'4).  Triple jump  had Becker taking second and  third place behind  Edling’s 31'5-1/2 and Haley Hubbard’s 31'-1/2".
 
Kassidy Severson got a PR at 7' in the pole vault to tie for sixth with Lexi Reichle at the same height.
 
Final Scores:
100 hurdles: Edling third (18.79), Hubbard sixth (19.52), Lahr seventh (19.91 PR) and Lawrence eighth (20.24).
100 dash: Schmidt third (14.35), Carver sixth (14.99) and Kotton ninth (15.47).
1600 run: Rositas fifth (6:17.92) and Spinner sixth (6:25.68 PR).
400 dash: Thiesen second (63.76), Manifold third (66.29 PR) and Brower fourth (66.79).
300 hurdles: Lahr first (52.08 PR), Edling second (52.87 PR), Lawrence ninth (59.39) and Spinner 11th (60.82).
800 run: Kealy second (2:37.13 season best), Rositas fourth (2:49.38 PR), Mauren Thiesen seventh (2:53.29) and Severson eighth (2:57.69).
200 dash: Schmidt first (28.84), Manifold second (29.02 PR), Sydow fourth (29.39), Brower sixth (30.02), Tripp eighth (30.60 PR) and Kotton 12th (31.94 PR).
3200 run: Hendrickson third (13:13.28).
 
4x800 relay: Kealy, Tripp, Hendrickson and Mauren Thiesen second (11:11.78 season best)    Relay B: Reichle, Brower, Carver and Spinner 11:46.66.
4x200 relay: Olsen, Manifold, Maesyn Thiesen and Sydow second (1:55.94). Relay B: Hietala, Robertson, Hiltner and Cleaver, 2:10.2.
4x100 relay: Olsen, Youngdahl, Hubbard and Sydow second (55.830. Relay B: Hietala, Robertson, Cleaver and Hiltner 59.38.
4x400 relay: Lahr, Kealy, Severson and Maesyn Thiesen second 4:31.79. Relay B: Hietala, Robertson, Carver and Hiltner   4:51.29.
 
Shot put: Moeller third   31'1 1/2.
Discus: Moeller  61' 1/2".
High jump: Schmidt tie second   4'10",  Lawrence fourth 4'4".
Long jump: Olsen second 14' 11", Youngdahl fourth 14'4", Brower eighth 13'4 PR, Lauren Sticha 12'10" and Kotton, 12' 2 1/2".
Triple jump: Edling second 31'5 1/2, Hubbard third 31' 1/2 and  Reichle ninth 27'10 1/2.
Pole vault: Schmidt second 9'6, Severson tie sixth 7' PR, Reichle tie sixth 7', Cleaver tie ninth 6 and Lahr tie ninth 6'.
 
“We really need to thank all our workers, it takes a lot of people to run a good meet and our junior high team came out to assist all our events,” said Reimer-Kealy.
 
“A big thank you to Zimmerman for bringing their electronic timer.”   
 
Becker has their Section 8 prelims Wednesday at Rocori and the finals Saturday at Thief River Falls.  At that meet, the top two individuals and relays will advance to the state meet.
 
Boys Track
Little Falls won the boys team meet with 58 points followed by Zimmerman with 46 and Becker with 24.
 
Becker’s 4x400 team of Andrew Davalos, Matt Davalos, Adam Bauman and Jaylin Hildebrandt won the 4x400 event with a time of 3:49.  Davalos also placed second in the 200 and was part of the 4x200 meter relay team with his brother  Mathew, Jaylin and Dylan Laudenbach that placed second.
 
Kreston Gammon had a nice day in the shot put with a personal best of 48'11.5", good for second place. Mason Olson and Dillon Radunz went two and three in the discus with throws of  118'4" and 115'5" respectively.
 
Luke Lahr placed second in the  3200 with a time of 10:41.17 and also finished second in the high jump, tied with Jaylin Hildebrandt at 4'10".
 
Eighth graders Matt Tiegland, Sydney Boros and Blake Angell joined the varsity squad Tuesday with  Tiegland placing fourth in the 100 and third in the 200 as well as fifth in the 400.  Boros finished sixth in the 400 and Angell finished fifth in pole vault with a jump of 9'.
 
“There was a great nucleus of boys in the seventh and eighth grade and they won or placed high in many of their meets this year at the junior high level,” said Head Coach Paul Schmidt.  “Coach Paul Lindsay did a great job conditioning and getting the boys to try multiple events.  If the boys stick together, continue to work hard and improve, the track team, along with the present varsity athletes will have a bright future.”
