During their recent meeting, the Becker City Council heard about an issue at their Liberty Ln. railroad crossing.
The city received calls from a private resident and from the railway that their crossing at Liberty Ln. and Hwy. 10 was having issues. A couple of the concrete panels over the tracks have become loose from repeated exposure to heavy trucks entering the industrial park. They have been temporarily fixed with wooden panels. The railway wants to share the cost of the project. The city would be responsible for the asphalt at the crossing. During the repair, the crossing will need to be closed for three days.
Landscaping Project
The city hall project is finally done, and the council was asked to consider plans for the landscaping. The project came in under budget, so there’s plenty left over for the landscaping. Staff presented a plan which council accepted. The work will be done in house to save on money.
In Other Business, the Council:
• Held a public hearing to vacate easements in the land deal with TJ Potter Trucking;
• Approved a resolution to adopt a new road;
• Spoke briefly about the post office, and relocating boxes to the Community Center for when the post office’s current lease is over at the end of October.
