The Big Lake girls soccer team has opened the 2025 season with its best start in school history.
The Hornets have won their first four games and have outscored their opponents, 20-2.
Their season began with a 3-1 win over Sauk Rapids Aug. 31 on the road. It was a tight game, but Big Lake got two goals from Addilynn Hallstrom and another by Adeline Hitter to hold back the Storm.
The Hornets hosted Albany in their next game on Aug. 26 and left no doubt about which was the better team. Big Lake scored early and often and came away with a 7-1 victory. And it was a total team effort.
Hallstrom and Hitter each had two goals. Hadley Priest scored a goal and added two assists. Kynlie Fournier scored a goal and Dayany Ramos-Aguilar had a goal. Paige Erickson and Caitlyn Jensen each had an assist.
The following day Big Lake hosted Mound Westonka. They played well on both ends of the field and blanked the White Hawks, 4-0.
Jensen scored twice. Priest had a goal and an assist and Hallstrom had a goal. Addison Orth, Hannah Chastain and Emersen Ruhland each assisted on goals. Goalkeeper Lily Reinoso got the shutout.
Last Friday (Aug. 29) the Hornets went on the road to take on Hutchinson. It was more of the same as Big Lake was dominant on offense and defense in a 6-0 win.
Hallstrom had two more goals. Fournier, Priest, Erickson and Paisleigh White each had a goal. Chastain assisted on two goals and Erica Ramberg added an assist. Reinoso got her second straight shutout in goal.
The Hornets played Zimmerman this past week, results next week. They host Rockford today (Saturday) at 11 a.m., then play at Cambridge-Isanti Monday, host Chisago Lakes Tuesday at 7 p.m. and visit North Branch Thursday.
