The Becker boys and girls track teams participated in the Section True Team meet at Rocori High School Tuesday.
This True Team event is a meet where each participant earns points for the events they participate in. The totals are for the entire team and is a reflection of the team as a whole and not just individuals.
Becker Girls Track
The girls placed fourth and Rocori was first.
The girls’ top performer for the meet was Sam Angell, winning both the 100 meter hurdles (16.58) and the 300 meter hurdles (49.14) with a personal record time. Her 300 hurdles earned her a spot on the high school honor roll.
Miranda O'Brien was fifth in the 100 hurdles with a personal record time of 17.49.
Becker's other first place finish came from Hannah Schmidt in the pole vault, with a jump of nine feet.
The 4x800 relay team (Alayna Lindquist, Alli Hendrickson, Julia Bengtson and Lexi Dehmer) improved their time to 10:06.22, placing second.

Becker Boys Track
The Becker team finished third behind Sartell.
True Team is a 10-team meet in a different format that allows teams to place only two individuals and one relay in each event.
“We had some very good performances in some races and then some more disappointing performances in others,” said Head Coach Paul Schmidt. “We were really hoping and pushing for a top two finish and a possible wild card bid but that wasn't in the cards for us today.”
Dillon Radunz won the shot put and discus with throws of 50'6" and 140' 7".
The boys 4x200 meter relay team broke the school record again, this time running with a slightly different lineup of Austin Hemmelgarn, Andrew Davalos, Kevin Andres and Sidney Boros. The new record now stands at 1:32.16.
“We still had a couple of shakey handoffs so I am confident that cleaning that up can put that record even lower this year,” said Schmidt.
Andrew Davalos continues to be a workhorse for the team, competing in four events. Davalos finished second in the 400 meters and anchored the 4x400 team, which placed first with their top time of the year (1:33.58).
“We told that foursome going into the final race that they needed to win the 4x400 to have a chance at a top three finish and they did just that,” said the head coach.
Other team members were Matt Davalos, Kevin Andres and Sidney Boros.
Ninth-grader Sam Ricker ran his top time of the year in the mile, finishing fourth with a time of 4:45.72. Jonathan Novak finished sixth with a time of 5:05.
Novak also got Becker’s 4x800 team off to a good start along with Justin Kringler, Brett Parson and Mason Makarrell, who ran a top time of the year at 8:51 to finish third.
Hunter Golden had a great 300 hurdle race, running a personal best time of 43.16 to finish third and come within a second of the school record in that race.
“In the true team meet, every place counts and we had lots of places that earned us points in the middle of the race,” said Schmidt.
Keith Sorenson and Olsen Pancoast were two of those competitors gaining the Bulldogs valuable points in the 3200 meters with a fifth and sixth finish.
Boys scores: 1). Sartell - 255.5; 2). Rocori - 220; 3). Becker - 164.5; 4). Foley - 156; 5). Eden Valley-Watkins/Kimball - 148.
Up Next
The Bulldogs team will be at an outdoor Granite Ridge Conference meet Tuesday in Zimmerman.
“We circled this meet on our calendars right after we came up one point short of the indoor conference title two months ago,” said Schmidt. “So it will be fun to see what kind of improvements we have made and if we can win the conference.”
