SOPHOMORE DIVING SENSATION EMI QUILL had a strong showing in her first meet Thursday against Big Lake at home.

Tamm Ecstatic To See 12 Swimmers/Divers Qualify For Sections

The Becker girls swimming and diving team lost to Big Lake Thursday in their home pool, 98-71.
 
Head Coach Tina Tamm was disappointed in the loss on the scoreboard, but was elated to see she had 12 girls qualify for sections in 18 different event in their first meet of the year.
 
“It was a great night for us,” she said.  “Many girls had personal best times on the first night of competition.  That tells me that there are a lot faster races in their futures.”
 
The section qualifiers for Becker include junior Vanessa Gilles in the 200M freestyle  and 100M backstroke. Junior Melody Swanson qualified in the 200IM  and the 500M freestyle.
 
Junior Jalissa Johnson made sections with good times in the 200IM and the 500M freestyle. Junior Emily Lipinski also qualified with her scores in the 200IM and 100M butterfly.
 
Senior Macy Erson qualified in the 50M and 100M freestyle events. Freshman Hailey Eriksson made it in the 50M and 100M freestyle events. 
 
Sophomore Emi Quill qualified for sections with her exceptional talent in diving as well as seventh-grader Sarah Woelfel.
 
Senior Nicole Larrison qualified in the 100M butterfly, senior Maddie Thorn in the 100M backstroke, eighth-grader Makenna Thelen in the 100M backstroke and freshman Avery Tamm  in the 100M breaststroke.

The swim/dive team travels to Holdingford Tuesday, then returns home Thursday for a meet with Little Falls.
