THE BECKER BULLDOG BASEBALL TEAM took to stretching Thursday afternoon as they scrambled to find practice space in the old gymnastics room because the fieldhouse was being used for a track meet.

KEVON ANDRES dug his feet in deep as he bounded for a top score in the long jump at Thursday’s time trial track meet in Becker.
LUKE LAHR is hoping to cap off his senior season with a run at a state tournament bid.

Spring Sports Underway

Just a few weeks after basketball, gymnastics, wrestling, dance and hockey finished their playoff runs, the Becker spring sports teams dusted off their golf clubs, mitts, rackets, lacrosse sticks and track shoes in preparation for th upcoming season.
 
The boys and girls track teams held a time trial indoors at the fieldhouse, hosting Pillager, Rocori and Big Lake. The baseball and softball teams scrambled and re-arranged their routines to accommodate the track event, finding space to throw, hit and play catch in the school gyms and workout rooms.
 
The first week in April typically marks most of the teams’ first games and meets of the year. Spring break is right around the corner and the weather outside is delightful.
 
 The boys and girls track teams have another home time trial meet Tuesday, facing off against Zimmerman, Rocori and Minnetonka — then they have their first meet of the year Friday at home against Granite Ridge Conference opponents.
 
The boys tennis team has a scrimmage April 2 at Elk River to kick off their start to the season. Their first regular season match is April 6 at home against Monticello.
 
The baseball team has a game scheduled for April 7 in St. Cloud and the girls golf team tees it up for the first time April 9 at home against 14 area teams.
 
 The girls softball team steps to the plate for scrimmages against St. Cloud and Rosemount today and Monday before starting the regular season April 7 at home against Little Falls. 
 
The lacrosse team picks up their sticks for their first scrimmage April 4 at Centennial with their first regular season game April 10 at home against Delano. 
 
The boys golf team swings into action April 10 at Spring Brook Golf Course in Mora for a Granite Ridge Conference meet.
