JUNIOR MICHAEL SOGARD shot a 73 Monday in the Daryl Gunnarson Invitational and finished second.

Sogard Hitting His Stride As Golfers Stay In The Hunt

It was a disappointing day Thursday at Little Falls as Becker had their worst conference finish of the year.  They shot a dismal 345 on a day that Cathedral (leading the conference) shot its season best 320.

Becker now trails Cathedral by 35 strokes with only one Granite Ridge Conference meet left at their home course on Monday at Wapicada.

“Luckily, I have three weeks to get the guys back on track and two solid weeks of practice before sections,” said Head Coach Dan Olson.

The Bulldogs were led by Adam Schug (83), Jackson Fluck and Nick Cencer (both 87's) and Caleb Foster (88).

Gunnarson Invitational
Becker took third place out of 16 teams at the Daryl Gunnarson Invitational at Southbrook Golf Course Monday.

The Bulldogs were led by Sogard, who shot a one over par 73 which earned him second place and a plaque.

Stanz (79), Fluck (80) and Cencer (94) rounded out the other Becker team scores.

“Michael played some great golf today,” said Olson. “He played the par fives in four under.  Alex (Stanz) and Jackson (Fluck) played well, but just had a hole or two that hurt their scores.”

Olson likes what he is seeing so far from his team.

“Michael (Sogard), Jackson (Fluck) and Alex (Stanz) are starting to get their games where they need to be as sections are less than a month away.”
