The Becker girls gymnastics team competed this past week without Lindsay Olsen on vault, bars and floor — and competed without Miranda O'Brien on vault, beam and floor.  

 

Head Coach Jen Harmoning thought it would be better to rest her present and future stars at this point of the season and the freshman girls should be fully back in the line-up soon.  

 

“We had a very busy December with two competitions each week,” said Harmoning. “And that can take a toll on the gymnasts' health.”

 

The Bulldogs traveled to Howard Lake-Waverly-Winstead High School last Friday and came away with an impressive, 140.325 to 119.35 win.

 

Hannah Schmidt continued to lead the Becker team with firsts on vault, bars (personal best score), floor and all-around.

 

Lexi Reichle took first place on beam with a personal best score of 9.15.

 

Marlee Louden also scored a personal best on bars of 8.55.  Kassidy Severson scored a personal best 8.975 on vault and Kylee Pudas (who was filling in for injured Miranda O'Brien) scored a personal best 9.125 on floor.

 

“We are looking forward to a break from competition until Jan. 10,” said the head coach.  “We are taking the week of Christmas off to rest and regroup. Then we will be back into practices getting ready for the second half of the season.  Our next major goal is to qualify to compete in the True Team Tournament (Jan. 24) and do well there.”
