SOPHOMORE DIVER EMI QUILL broke the Becker pool record in diving Thursday when she scored a 221.50 in her dives against Little Falls.

Quill Breaks Pool Record Vs. Little Falls

The Becker Bulldog girls swim and dive teams lost two meets this week but still recorded some personal bests and school records.

Bulldogs vs. Huskers
The girls came oh-so-close to beating the Huskers but instead suffered a defeat at Tuesday’s meet in Holdingford.

Becker had a legitimate chance to win, but Becker’s coach said the girls just couldn't quite get the speed they needed to beat them.

“The girls hit a mental block when we got there and they couldn't get out of it,” said Head Coach Tina Tamm.

The girls, however, had a few season personal best times and improvements including Vanessa Gilles in 200M freestyle and Kelsey House in the 100M freestyle. Nicole Larrison qualified for sections in the 50M freestyle and  diver Emi Quill increased her diving score.

Bulldogs vs. Flyers
Thursday, Becker hosted Little Falls and lost by a 98-83 score.

The highlight of the meet for the Bulldogs was diver Emi Quill breaking the pool record for diving with a score of 221.50.

“She's been looking to break this record since last year and finally did it last night,” said Tamm.

Tamm said Thursday’s meet in Little Falls — while still a loss — was much better than Tuesday’s meet against Holdingford.

“Being at home does have its advantages,” she said.  “Our young girls swam great. They seem to be getting the hang of the competition side of swimming and are improving at each meet.”

Becker’s Shelby Steffen qualified for sections in the 100M butterfly with a personal best time.  Others who dropped time at this meet include Emily Lipinski in the 200IM; Kyla Henkemeyer, Neveah Bjorlin, Jersey Fitzpatrick and Nicole Larrison in the 50M freestyle; Kelsey House, Hailey Eriksson and Angelle Speath in the 100M freestyle; Melody Swanson in the 500M freestyle; Maddie Thorn and Kamryn Gass in the 100M backstroke and Avery Tamm and Alana Berger in the 100M breaststroke.
