THE BULLDOG GIRLS SOFTBALL TEAM has been practicing indoors for much of this spring season so far due to cold weather. Their regular season starts a week from Tuesday at home.
THE BASEBALL TEAM has had to bounce from fieldhouse to gym to the weight room to the former gymnastics room just to find space to practice since outdoor practice has been out of the question. They start their regular season April 7 in St. Cloud.
THE GIRLS LACROSSE TEAM hopes to hit the pitch soon as their regular season starts April 10 at home.
HEAD COACH HOKAN BENGTSON of the boys tennis team hopes to get his team out on the courts soon to prepare for their regular season which begins April 6.

Mother Nature To Ring In Spring Sports Season

The spring sports season is underway at Becker High School and with regular season schedules commencing soon, Mother Nature is being pestered to accommodate with weather worthy of outdoor play.
 
The boys and girls track and field season, under the direction of head coaches Trish Reimer-Kealy and Paul Schmidt, started pre-season time trails last week and open the regular season at home Friday, Mar. 27 against conference foes. 
 
The event is an indoor meet — thankfully — with temperatures hovering around 35º outside.
 
Softball has had two indoor scrimmages so far this year and host their regular season opener a week from Tuesday against Little Falls. The team is coached by Jason Baune.
 
Baseball continues to work out and prepare for the season indoors and open their season April 7 at the St. Cloud Municipal Athletic Complex against Cathedral. Their first home game is April 14 against Milaca and they are coached by Chuck Stanger.
 
The boys tennis team — under the tutelage of Hokan Bengtson — has had a few decent days outside on their courts to practice, but spend many colder days inside the fieldhouse fine tuning their skills. They travel to Elk River April 2 for a scrimmage against the Elks then host their first regular season match against Monticello April 6.
 
The girls lacrosse team, coached by Travis Opgenorth, has been busy preparing for the start of their season by conducting indoor practices in the middle school gym.
 
They travel to Centennial next Saturday for a pre-season scrimmage and start their regular season at home against Delano April 10.
 
The girls golf team, coached by Steve Whitaker, spends numerous days after school hitting balls into nets and getting tips from their coach but has spent zero time on the golf course or driving range due to the weather. They open the regular season at Pebble Creek April 9 against 14 area teams.
 
Coach Dan Olson has his boys golf team doing much of the same as they start their regular season on the road April 10 in Mora, then at Foley April 13 before hosting 17 area teams April 16 at Pebble Creek.
