It was a tough week weather-wise for the Becker American Legion baseball team as one game was cancelled and the other suspended due to lightning.
Tuesday at Monticello
Tuesdays game versus Monticello was cancelled due to severe weather in the area. No makeup date has been set.
Thursday at Sauk Rapids
Thursday’s game versus Sauk Rapids ended up as a 2-1 loss for the Bulldogs in a weather-shortened game, called after 4 1/2 innings due to inclement weather.
The Bulldogs were held to just one hit in the game, that success coming from Andrew Stanger, who went 1-for-1 at the plate.
Becker scored their lone run of the game when John Mann led off the third inning with a walk. Kendal Hanson bunted him to second and Mann advanced to third on a wild pitch. On Clayton Gallus’ grounded out to second, Mann was able to score on the play.
Casey Vesledahl pitched all four innings for the Bulldogs and looked sharp. He allowed just two earned runs on three hits while walking three and striking out three.

Monday, the boys travel to Dick Putz Field to play Waite Park at 8 p.m. Thursday, they play at home versus Sartell at 6:1 5p.m. in their final regular season game of the summer.
Playoffs will begin Tuesday, July 19 with a play-in game at the highest seed, followed up with the rest of the sub-state tournament held in Princeton.
