Lakers Still Winless Heading Into Final Weekend

 
The Clear Lake Lakers remained winless in 2019 with losses to St. Joseph and Foley this past week.
 
Joe’s 13, Lakers 3
 
The St. Joseph Joe’s defeated the Lakers by 10 runs on a Monday night make up game. 
 
The Joe’s collected 15 hits, including three doubles and a triple, to give their pitcher very good support. 
 
The Joe’s right hander, Greg Anderson started on the mound, throwing a complete game to earn the win. He gave up seven hits, no walks, three runs and notched eight strikeouts.
 
The Lakers’ starting pitcher, Ryan Skymanski threw five innings, giving up 10 hits, one walk, seven runs while registering one strikeout. Hayden Fassler threw one inning in relief, giving up four hits, one walk and he gave up four runs. Tyler Maurer threw one inning in relief, he gave up one hit, issued two walks, gave up two runs and he recorded one strikeout.
 
The Laker’s offense was led by Matt Korte, who went 2-for-4 with a double and two RBI’s. Fassler went 3-for-3 with one run scored. Brett Knudsen and Ben Wright both went 1-for-3 and Tyler Maurer was credited with an RBI. Ryan Skymanski was hit by a pitch and scored a run and Ben Anderson also scored one run.
 
The Joe’s were led on offense by Ben Alford, who went 3-for-5 with a double and three RBI’s. He also scored a pair of runs. Joey Atkinson went 2-for-3 with a triple and a double for two RBI’s and scored a pair of runs. Hunter Blommer went 2-for-5 with a double for one RBI and scored one run. Peter Nelson went 2-for-3 with a RBI, a walk and one run scored. Tanner Blommer went 3-for-4 with a walk, a sacrifice bunt, a stolen base and he scored three runs. Tanner Aleshire went 1-for-4 with an RBI, a stolen base and one run scored. Greg Anderson went 1-for-3 with two RBI’s and a walk. Brandon Bissett went 1-for-4, scoring a run. Hank Hagen went 1-for-3 with one run scored and Lukas Nyberg earned a walk and a stolen base.
 
Foley 7, Clear Lake 6
 
The Lumberjacks defeated the Lakers Sunday afternoon, backed by eight hits. 
 
Brandon Buesgens started on the mound for Foley, throwing 5-1/3 innings, giving up nine hits, three walks, six runs while securing three strikeouts. Drew Beier threw 3-2/3 innings in relief, giving up one hit while recording two strikeouts.
 
The Lakers’ starting pitcher, Mike Golombiecki threw 6-2/3 innings, giving up eight hits, four walks, seven runs and tallied five strikeouts. Mike Smith threw 2-1/3 innings in relief, issuing one walk and had three strikeouts.
 
The Lakers offense was led by Tyler Maurer, who went 2-for-5 with a home run for four RBI’s and Matt Korte, who went 1-for-5 for an RBI and one run scored. Szymanski went 1-for-3 with an RBI, a walk and scored one run. Ben Anderson went 1-for-4 and  scored a run. Eric Faust went 2-for-4, with a walk and one run scored and Justin Hagstrom went 2-for-4 and scored a run. Blake Brown went 1-for-5, Fassler had a sacrifice bunt and Smith was hit by a pitch and earned a walk.
 
The Lumberjacks were led on offense by Tanner Brosh, who went 1-for-3 with a home run for two  RBI’s. He also earned a walk and scored twice. Drew Beier went 2-for-5 with an RBI, two stolen bases and one run scored. Kyle Kipka went 2-for-5 with an RBI, a stolen base and one run scored. Noah Winkelman went 1-for-3 with two RBI’s and Mitch Keller went 1-for-4. Sam Keller went 1-for-2 and scored a run and Mark Dierkes earned a pair of walks. 
 
Buesgens earned a walk and scored a run, Tyler Midas earned a walk and Rich Rassmasson scored a run.

The Lakers traveled to Sartell Friday night, then return home Saturday and Sunday to play the Sartell Stone Poneys and Albertville Villains to close out the regular season.
