The Becker Just for Kix dance program recently participated in a competition and Senior Showcase held in Rochester April 9. 

 

This competition featured teams from six states including Illinois, Iowa, Nebraska, North Dakota, South Dakota and Minnesota and is held over three days.

 

Teams first compete within their own divisions in the traditional competition. Becker’s Jazz and Kick teams were impressive and finished strong.  The senior Jazz squad earned the third place award and senior Kick finished first and won their division.

 

Next up, teams were able to enter and compete in the Senior Showcase.  This competition is unique in that senior Kick teams from all divisions compete together in one large competition.

 

Teams first compete in a preliminary round with the top fourteen teams advancing to the finals.  Becker’s senior Kick team was among the qualifiers.

 

Qualifying teams then dance one more time in the final round and the top seven teams are announced at the award ceremony.  Becker finished in the seventh place spot out of 28 teams! 

 

Brainerd’s dance team finished first with Austin in second and the Richfield/Bloomington team in third.

 

A senior recognition was also held for those athletes who will graduate at the end of the year.  The Becker team has four seniors this year, Abby Hendrickson, Allie Kluge, Nikki Timmerman and Heather Sanders.
