Gruenes, Myres, Pleoger Advance In Sections

 
The Becker boys and girls track teams competed in the Section 8AA prelims in Fergus Falls Wednesday with the hope of moving on to the finals in Willmar  Saturday.   
 
Boys Track
 
The following boys will be moving on to the sections finals:  David Myres in the 110M - he will be the number one seed going into the finals with a time of 15.16. He will be the number two seed in the 300M hurdles by capturing a time of 40.30.  
 
“David has positioned himself to have a very good chance of reaching the state tournament in each of these events,” said Head Coach Paul Schmidt.  
 
Kevin Andres also put himself in great position to return to the state meet by earning the number one slot in the 400M with a time of 49.76. He also will be running out of the fourth seed in the in the 200M with a time of 22.79.  
 
Jordan Gruenes positioned himself well in the 800M by earning the top seed with a record breaking performance of 1:58.64.  Gruenes broke the school record in the 800 by topping Josten Rositas’ record of 1:59.7 set in 2011.  
 
Girls Track
 
The highlight for the girls was Cassidy Pleoger making the finals in the 100M dash which will be run Saturday.  Running a great finish, she ran a PR time of 12.79, which places her second on the Becker honor roll.  In the same race, Paige Maunu ran her PR time of 13.84.
 
In the 200M, Pleoger just missed the finals but ran her season best time of 26.69 and Abby Maruska ran her PR time of 28.13, Keeley Holm ran 29.13.
 
In the 400M, Elizabeth Mackedanz ran a PR time of 62.66, Keeley Holm ran a season best 65.59 and Abby Sanderson ran a PR of 65.95.
 
Dani Nuest ran an outstanding 800M for a PR time of 2:23.75 (taking two seconds off her previous best) to just miss out on finals.  They take eight to the finals and Nuest finished ninth.
 
Senior Victoria Kolbinger ran very well and  placed 13th in the finals of the 3200M, running a season best time of 12:12.47.  Seventh graders Alexis Rose and Natasha Berthiaume both ran good times placing 20th (12:31.48) and 24th (12:42.49).
 
In the 100 meter hurdles, Sarah Woelfel ran her PR time of 17.35 while three stepping the entire race. Callie Doucette ran her second best season time of 17.52 and Regan Hausmann ran 18.93.
 
In the 300M hurdles Doucette achieved a PR time of 52.11 and Hausmann ran 53.26.
 
In the discus, Grace Schendel threw 83'7 and Anna Briggs threw 77'3.

Saturday's finals are in Willmar with the top two individuals and relays advancing to the state meet. Heading into the meet will also be the boys relay teams in which the 4x400M and 4x800M foursomes will have outside chances of making it to the tournament as well.
