The Becker Bulldogs girls golf team competed in two meets this week, continuing to improve their game in preparation for sections next week.
Monday saw the golfers at home on the Pebble Creek Golf Course for a Granite Ridge meet, where they finished fourth with a 403.
“Gretchen [Graftaas] shot her best round with a score of 94,” said Head Coach Anna Babler. “I’m very proud of the team’s progress this year. We consistently continued to improve over the season.”
Kylee Rick was right behind Graftaas with a score of 95. Ashley Reed came in next with a score of 104, followed by Emma Benson with 110 and Avery Johnson with 113.
Wednesday? The team competed in the Annandale Scramble Invitational. The invite was scheduled for 18 holes, but due to the rain it was only a nine-hole meet, with the scoring over/under due to the fact that each pair played different holes.
Along with Annandale, the Bulldogs competition included BOLD, Waconia, Rockford, Mound-Westonka, HLWW/Maple Lake, Dassel-Cokato, Delano, St. Michael-Albertville, Kimball-EVW, Glencoe/Silver Lake, Monticello, HL/W/W, St. Cloud Cathedral, Hutchinson, Orono, Sartell-St. Stephen, Sauk Rapids-Rice and Mankato.
“It was a very difficult day but the girls stuck with it,” said Babler.
Next week the Bulldogs head to sections at Rich Spring Golf Club in Cold Spring.
“I’m excited to see how well they do at sections,” said Babler, “Hopefully we can have some individuals advance to the second day. We have some outstanding girls to compete against in our section.”
The Bulldogs girls golf team is currently standing in fourth place with a total team score of 1655. Graftaas is ranked 11th in the conference; Rick and Reed are tied for 12th.
