Girls Bb Team Advances To Play Big Lake Saturday In Section Semis

The Becker Bulldog girls basketball team closed out their regular season with a loss to Albany last Friday, then beat St. Cloud Apollo in section play Wednesday to advance to the semifinals.
 
Becker 81, Apollo 56
 
The #3-seeded Bulldogs were led by Alex Johnson, who scored 20 points in their win over Apollo in the first round of Section 5AAA playoffs.
 
Abbigail Morrell had 15 points and Amanda Lindsay added 13.
 
Junior forward Claire Thorn was also in double figures for Becker (17-9) with 10 points.
 
The Eagles (4-26) were led by Lariah Washington’s 34 points.

Albany 50, Becker 43
 
Maddie Schmitz had 17 points to lead Albany past Becker in a Granite Ridge Conference matchup last Friday night in Becker. 
 
The Huskies, who finished 13-1 in conference play, wrapped up the league title in the final game of the season.
 
The Bulldogs, with a 10-4 mark in the Granite Ridge, finished second.
 
Erin Navratil added 13 for Albany and Emily Johnson finished with 11.

Becker (17-9) advances to the section semifinals against #2-seeded Big Lake (15-11) at 7:30 p.m. Saturday in Buffalo. The winner of that game will take on the winner of #1-seeded Willmar (17-9) and #4-seeded Zimmerman (17-10) in Buffalo Thursday with a chance to go to state.
