The St. Cloud YMCA Gator Swim team just competed at the YMCA State Meet at the University of Minnesota last Sunday and brought home the high points per capita trophy for the fourth time in five years.
The high points per capita category means that the Gators 23 swimmers earned more points per swimmer than any other team there.
The Gator Swim Team is built up of swimmers from Sartell, St. Cloud, Foley, Becker, Paynesville and Sauk Rapids-Rice. One of those swimmers on the team is Becker’s own Andrea Molus.
She was state champ in the girls open 100 IM and 200 freestyle relay and second place in the 200 backstroke. She also finished in third place in the 100 freestyle and sixth place in the 50 backstroke.
The Gators were the fourth smallest team in the meet with 18 teams competing, many of them had over 100 swimmers on their team.
The St. Cloud YMCA Swim Team is a dual YMCA/USA team located in St. Cloud. The Gators are Minnesota YMCA 2012, 2014, 2015 and now 2016 YMCA Points Per Capita State Champions, and we are the only team in St. Cloud to achieve level two status in USA Swimming's Club Recognition Program.
Molus, 18, was a state entrant for the Becker Bulldog swim team in November in the 200 freestyle event. She was seeded 21st and finished in that spot with a time of 2:01.08.
