Eagles Shut Out At Home

The Eagles had a rough Thursday night,  being shut out by Sauk Rapids-Rice at home, 9-0. It was a high penalty game, keeping Alec Doran off the ice for a long period, a major leader for the Eagles.

“Way too many penalty minutes to recover,” said Coach Jason Hartfiel. “We can’t afford to have Doran off the ice for that long.”

The Eagles were down 2-0 in the first, 5-0 in the second, and 9-0 by the game’s end.

Doran served 14 minutes in penalties, including 10 minutes for misconduct.

“It was a very physical game,” said Hartfiel.

Sauk Rapids-Rice served 11 minutes on four infractions, while the Eagles served 24 minutes on eight infractions.

Zach Piehl tended the goal, saving 53 of 62 shots against him.

The Eagles are 1-3 after a 5-3 loss at Wadena Dec 1 and a 4-1 loss at Mora on Tuesday.

They face Dodge County Saturday and Legacy Christian Tuesday, both at home.
