Eagles Season Ends 7 18

The Eagles winning streak ended with a 9-6 loss to Bagley-Fosston Feb. 10.
 
The Eagles were first to score in the first period with a goal from Jake Piehl, assisted by Weston Schug and Alec Doran. Bagley-Fosston  respond with two goals, putting the Eagles down 2-1 near the end of the first period. Aubrey Hartfiel, with an assist from Ryan Murnane and Schug, would tie the game at 2-2, before Bagley-Fosston would put another goal in before the end of the first period.
 
The Eagles tied the game again to start the second with a goal from Frank Baker, with the assist from Garrett Anderson. 
 
Hartfiel, with an assist from Schug, gave the Eagles the lead six minutes after the tie. Schug would extend the lead for the Eagles to 5-3 with help from Murnane and Doran.
 
Bagley-Fosston rebounded and scored multiple goals and ended the second period with a 6-5 lead.
 
Murnane, with Hartfiel and Schug assisting, would score what would be the last goal of the game for the Eagles, tying the game at six. Bagley-Fosston added three more goals, handing the loss to the Eagles.
 
The Eagles played a relatively calm game, with only two infractions totaling four minutes, their lowest of the season. 
 
Zach Piehl manned the goal for the entire time of play, saving 25 of 34 shots. The Eagles would mount 37 shot attempts against Bagley-Fosston.
 
Eagles 0, River Lakes 13 
The Becker-Big Lake Eagles hockey team felt no love Tuesday from River Lakes in their last home game of the regular season, as it ended in a devastating 13-0 loss.
 
River Lakes had a strong start with seven goals in the first period. They added four more goals in the second and two final goals in the third.
 
Zach Piehl saved 18 of 31 total shots against him. River Lakes defense held strong against the Eagles, who only managed five total shots on goal. Of those five, three were on power plays.
 
The Eagles matched their low in penalties, serving four minutes on two infractions. The Eagles’ home record for the season ends at 2-11.
 
Eagles 2, St. Paul Highland Park 7
The Eagles finished their regular season on the road with a loss to St. Paul-Highland Park Thurs., 7-2.
 
After starting in a 2-0 deficit, the Eagles got on the board late in the first with a goal from Weston Schug, assisted by Alec Doran. St. Paul-Highland Park scored soon after, ending the first period with a 3-1 lead over the Eagles.
 
St. Paul-Highland Park put three more goals in during the second period, shutting the Eagles out in the process.
 
Schug, with an assist from Aubrey Hartfiel, scored early in the third period, cutting their deficit 6-2. On more goal from St. Paul-Highland Park would end the game.
 
The goalkeeping was split between Caden Weber and Zach Piehl, who both saw 25 minutes of play. Weber saved 11 of 17 shots and Piehl saved 12 of 13, in total, they would save 23 of 30 shots. The Eagles took 35 shots against St. Paul-Highland Park.
 
The Eagles’ regular season ends at 7-18, an improvement over last season, which was 4-19-2, and included a three-game winning streak.
 
The Section 5A tournament begins Feb 21; seeding is still in progress.
