Eagles Extend Winning Streak

The Eagles are showing new life late in the season with their third straight win and seventh of the season, beating Legacy Christian Tuesday, 5-3 on the road.

The Eagles were first to score in the first period with an even-strength Ryan Murnane goal, with assist from Logan Beckstrom and Weston Schug.

After a brief 1-1 tie, Corbin Kollar put the Eagles ahead 2-1 to finish the first period. He was assisted by Max Nelson.

Legacy Christian would tie the game again early in the second. The Eagles respond with two goals later in the period, the first from Phil Stalpes, assisted by Murnane, and the second from Schug, assisted by Aubrey Hartfiel.
Schug, with assist from Jake Piehl, scored once more for the Eagles just seconds into the period. Although Legacy Christian would score another goal, it wouldn’t make a difference as the Eagles secured another victory for the season.

The Eagles served 10 minutes on five infractions, two of which were unsportsmanlike conduct. Legacy Christian would serve 15 minutes on seven infractions.

For the first time this season, the Eagles took more shots than their opponents. Zach Piehl faced 30 shots while tending the goal all 51 minutes of play. The Eagles would take 39 total shots against Legacy Christian.

Now 7-15, the Eagles have two games remaining before the postseason begins. The last home game of the regular season is Tuesday against River Lakes, and the last game of the regular season is at St. Paul Highland Park Thursday.
