THE BECKER DAZZLERS DANCE TEAM came off their holiday break and looked a bit rusty at their invite in Alexandria Saturday. Coaches Julie Baloun and Nadia Fischer-Danzeisen said the squad had some memory and choreography challenges, but they hope to get the team back on track for their meet in Rocori today (Saturday).

Dazzlers Show A Little Rust In Alexandria

The Becker Dazzlers dance team competed at the Alexandria Invite last Saturday afternoon. This large Invite features many teams from the Central Minnesota area.

The meet was led by a strong Rocori team, who perpetually qualifies for state each year.  Rocori took first in both the jazz and kick categories.

“This was our first competition after the holiday break,” said Co-Coach Julie Baloun. “Unfortunately, we did see some memory mistakes in all of our routines today.”

Baloun says at this point in the season, it is really important to go out confident and perform clean routines.

“Scores are often very tight in these invites, so mistakes can really hurt,” she said. “We are eager to get back to  practice to clean and improve our routines for the next competition.”

Coach Nadia Fischer-Danzeisen agreed.

“We had some choreography challenges today, but varsity jazz was still able to take fourth place, so I'm excited to see where we'll place once we have no memory mistakes,” she said.

The Dazzlers are gearing up for an invite at Rocori High School Saturday (today). This meet will feature many teams who also compete in the same section pool as Becker.

“It will be a great opportunity to see where we are at heading into sections,” said Coach Baloun.

The Dazzlers are also preparing for their Hip Hop dance camp for youth ages 3-12.  The camp will be held Feb. 6-8 after school at the Intermediate School gymnasium.  The performance for this camp will be at the Feb. 9 Becker girls basketball game.

Registration will open soon through Becker Community Education.
