The Dazzlers dance team competed at the Academy of Holy Angels Invitational Saturday.
The top placements went to tough perennial state contender teams from Austin and Rocori. Austin took top honors in the high kick division while Rocori took top honors in the Jazz division.
JV kick had a good performance to start the day.
"We had a week of uncertainty with a lot of dancers needing to change spots. They did a great job making adjustments and performed very well today! They improved a lot on timing and confidence," said Coach Nadia Fischer-Danzeisen.
Varsity kick also had a strong performance.
"We did have some minor memory mistakes and placement issues that we will need to resolve before our home conference meet this Thursday, but overall this team is performing well. We are just looking to add some energy and strength of movement to push the routine to the next level," said Coach Baloun.
JV jazz also had to make some formation changes this week.
"Dance is unlike other sports in that you can't just call in a substitution. If someone is missing, everyone needs to adjust. They did a good job making those adjustments this week. We will continue to work on confidence, and technique to build our scores with each event," said Baloun.
Varsity jazz finished the day with a strong performance in their division.
"The team performed well, improving their scores in degree of accuracy. Dance is a performance sport, which means it's not just about completing skills, but also the way you perform them.
We are continuing to work on the technique and presentation of our routine," said Fischer-Danzeisen.
The Dazzlers looked forward to entertaining the home crowd at the Granite Ridge Conference meet at Becker High School Thursday. Teams from Albany, Becker, Foley, St Cloud Cathedral and Zimmerman will be competing (full report on the conference in next week’s Citizen-Tribune).
