Held at Driftwood Golf and Fitness in Clearwater earlier this month, the 14th Annual Cougar Golf Classic raised $6,500 to be used for student and classroom technology at Clearview Elementary School.
The yearly benefit is a shotgun start scramble tournament including golf, contests and prizes at each hole. This year Clearview is hoping to purchase more Chrome books for the students.
After the tournament, which was played by teams of four, the fun continued with prizes and social at the Clearwater Legion.
Clearwater Travel Plaza was once again the title sponsor for the event, with major donors including the Clear Lake Lions, the Clearwater Lions and an anonymous donor.
Food sponsor, with brats and pork chops, was McDonald’s Meats, and golf cart sponsors were Premier Real Estate and Voigt Bus.
North Benton Dental Care, Johnson, Larson & Peterson PA, District 742 LEAF, Sons of Legion and Julie and Wayne Schluchter Fund of Central Minnesota Community Foundation were hole sponsors, Yapel Orthodontics was the ½ hole sponsor and River City Dental and Northridge Express were raffle sponsors.
This year’s hole contest sponsors included Eddies Auto Repair, Clearwater American Legion Post #323, Becker Furniture World, St. Cloud ROX, Brigg’s Lake General Store, Scheels, MN Zoo, DJ Bitzen Jewelers, Beaver Island Brewery, Great Theatre, YMCA, McDonald’s Meats, Kurt Leaders and Driftwood Golf and Fitness.
“Thank you to all the volunteers, sponsors and golfers that continue to make the tournament a fun event,” said organizer Shannon Essler-Petty.
