Clear Lake Area Youth Baseball Has Great First Half Of Season

The Clear Lake Area Youth Baseball Association (CLAYBA) has had a great first half of their season, with 16 wins, 8 losses and 1 tie combined.

CLAYBA is open to boys and girls ages five to sixteen and is comprised primarily of youth from the Clear Lake and Clearwater area. It was started by parent Jim Sakkinen 25 years ago, and grew from just a couple teams to the many teams playing today, with around 100 families participating.

Levels of play consist of TBall, ages five and six, BBall, ages seven and eight, Willie Mays, ages nine and ten, Pee Wee Reese, ages 11 and 12, 13U/14U, and 15U/16U, which is the travel team. The CLAYBA Travel Teams participate in the Gopher State Baseball League operated by the Minnesota Youth Athletic Services. All teams play at the AA or AAA levels.

Area sponsors support the organization and volunteer parents, grandparents and older teens coach the teams.
