Bulldogs Take Down Flyers At Home, 55 49

The Becker Bulldog boys basketball team picked up a very important GRC win this week, beating Little Falls Tuesday at home, 55-49.
 
The win moved Becker to 4-9 overall, 2-3 in the Granite Ridge.
 
The game was tight throughout the first half, with the Flyers and Bulldogs trading big buckets and matched three-pointers and free throws. The first 18 minutes ended with Little Falls holding a precariously thin lead at 26-24.
 
However, Coach Josh Ihrke and his coaching staff lit a fire under their team at halftime and the Bulldogs came out for the final frame in fine fashion.
 
Lucas Dertinger, again, led the Bulldogs in scoring, notching 15 points while Brandon Gustafson and Sam Ricker added 10 points a piece to pace the home team.
 
Little Falls got 19 points from their star player, Joe Alholm while Mason Wickstrom added nine.
 
Becker outscored Little Falls in the final half, 31-23 to take the win.
 
Becker scoring: Dertinger 15, Gustafson 10, Ricker 10, Cade Callahan 5, Justin Kringler 4, Bryce Boser 4, Caleb Quernemoen 3, Nick Mittelsteadt 3 and Josh Fobbe 1.
 
Little Falls scoring: Alholm 19, Wickstrom 9, Austin Erdmann 5, Thomas Kula 5, Travis Wenzel 3, Caleb Strack 2, Thomas Kunkel 2, Oscar Norgren 2 and Anthony Vetter 2.
 
At this point in the season, Dertinger is the team’s leading scorer, averaging 21.3 points a game. He is followed by Gustafson at 14.1 PPG and Quernemoen with 8.6 PPG.
 
Gustafson is the team’s leading rebounder, averaging 6.7 a game. He is followed by Dertinger with 5.7 and Kringler with 5.5.
 
Kringler leads the Bulldogs with five assists per game. Ricker is second at 2.6 and Dertinger third at 2.4.
 
Dertinger leads Becker with 1.3 steals per game and is followed by Kringler with one SPG and Ricker with .9 SPG.
 
Callahan is the team’s best shot blocker, tallying one SPG with Dertinger second at .7 and Ricker third with .6.
