Coach Kayla Kalinowski and the Becker gymnastics team were busy this week putting the final touches on routines in preparation for the upcoming Section meet. It will be held today (Saturday) in St. Francis at 3 p.m.
“We are looking to improve upon our fourth place finish last season and are looking to send a few gymnasts to the State Meet,” Kalinowski says.
This past week, Kalinowski reported on her JV team, highlighting their accomplishments in finishing in the top half of the Mississippi 8 Conference.
“The JV Gymnasts finished a respectable fourth place in the conference with a total score of 127.15,” Kalinowski said. “The Bulldogs had seven top 10 finishes, led by Sofia Bonsante earning a third place finish in the all-around with a score of 31.9.”
Other Bulldog performers included: Hailey Deters (tie for seventh on vault with an 8.5), Cassie Larson (ninth place bars with a 7.65) and Bonsante (10th on bars with a 7.6)
Tessa Maruska stuck a beautiful beam routine for a seventh place finish with an 8.2, while Justine Vilmo led the team with a strong floor routine to finish in fifth place with 8.45. Sofia Bonsante (8.4), tied for sixth place on the floor.
“We are proud of our JV gymnasts and their fantastic season,” Kalinowski said.
