The young but talented Becker girls basketball team last week went 1-2 in a brutal three game stretch of back-to-back-to-back games to move to 11-7 on the season.
Vs. Chisago Lakes
Last Thursday, the team played great defense in a 68-26 win over Chisago Lakes.
“We continued to rebound well, out-rebounding a taller team for the second consecutive game,” Head Coach Dan Baird said. “We secured 37 rebounds to 24 by Chisago Lakes.”
The Bulldogs picked up 16 boards on the offensive end of the court, and won the second chance points stat 18-0 over the Wildcats. Becker also used its team quickness to go around the Wildcat defenders, which led to a 40-10 scoring advantage in the paint.
Andie Changamire was dominant in this contest for Becker as the freshman scored 19 points and added six rebounds and five assists.
“Andie has been a beast on the boards lately,” Baird said. “She just played great in this contest.”
Adele Changamire added 15 points for Becker, while Tess Brown added nine points to give the Bulldogs three scorers in double figures.
Eilidh Mrnak added nine points, while Juliana Stach had four and Aysa Johnson scored three points.
Ady Petty, Rowan Hausmann and Ella Otteson each chipped in a bucket for the Bulldogs.
Vs. Magic
Friday night, Becker fell to Conference leader and Class AAAA Monticello, 47-62.
Becker kept it close at halftime, trailing by just four points, 27-23 on the road before Monticello’s veteran team asserted their will in the second half.
Andie Changamire was sensational, scoring 23 points and grabbing eight boards for Becker, as her sister Adele added nine points.
Vs. Tigers
On Saturday, Becker fell to an excellent Delano team, 71-47. The Tigers are 15-6 on the season and like the Bulldogs, play a grueling schedule, with most of their losses coming against must larger schools.
The Tigers took a 35-25 halftime lead and never looked back.
Becker was led by Andie Changamire’s 14 points, while Tess Brown added 13.
