The Becker Bulldogs boys golf started out the week well, moving up to third place in conference before dropping to fifth place after their second match.
Wednesday the team was at the Elk River Country Club to compete against their conference rivals. Although the weather was great, the course was in tough shape due to a lot of winter kill on the greens and fairways. The team played well, taking fourth place and moving up into third place in the conference standings.
Sophomore Zach Stanz led the team with a score of 80. Senior Austin Seavert was next with an 86, followed by sophomores Tucker Rhodes and Ethan Tobako with scores of 90 and 91 respectively. Senior Gavin Murphy scored 95, and freshman Zach Stanger finished with 113.
Thursday the Bulldogs were at Little Falls Country Club where they struggled.
“Lack of consistency is hurting our team,” said Head Coach Dan Olson. “The kids all had some stretches of good golf, but we have yet to put together four consistent rounds.”
Zach Stanz again led the team with an impressive score of 79. Austin Seavert once again scored the second low score with 92, and Tucker Rhodes and Ethan Tobako tied with 94s. Junior Jimmy Braun was next with 99, and sophomore Brock Ramola ended with 111.
The Bulldogs were at Detroit Lakes Friday, which will be covered in next week’s Citizen-Tribune, and are again there today. Monday will see them at Wapicada Golf Club.
