The Becker Bulldog boys golf team had a superb week as they took home two consecutive first place finishes, one on the road in Sartell Monday and the other at home Thursday. Pebble Creek Invite The Becker boys golf team hosted their second invite of the 2015 season against Granite Ridge Conference foes Thursday afternoon. The weather was a bit chilly and windy, but the sun shone from above and the boys stayed hot.
Becker’s Jackson Fluck was the tournament medalist, shooting an impressive 78 and leading the Bulldogs to a team score of 323 — 17 strokes ahead of second place Cathedral.
Michael Sogard overcame a quadruple bogey on his first hole to finish third with an 80. Adam Schug had a solid 38 on the back nine to finish with an 82. Alex Stanz struggled on his first couple of holes, but finished with an 83.
“The guys were trailing Cathedral by 11 strokes in the GRC standings at the start of the day,” said Head Coach Dan Olson. “However, they ended the day with a six-stroke lead.”
Brandon Abrahamson had an 88 and Joey Perry a 96 to round out Becker’s scoring.

Blackberry Ridge Invite
The Becker boys captured first place at Blackberry Ridge Golf Course Monday with Michael Sogard and Jackson Fluck leading the team with 81’s and finishing tied for fourth overall.
“Probably the best weather conditions we had all year,” said Head Coach Dan Olson sarcastically. “Tee off temp was 37 degrees and it warmed up two whole degrees when we started.”
The Bulldogs had to deal with the wind too as Mother Nature hurled 20-30 mph winds out of the northwest.
“Tough conditions, but the Bulldogs came to play and blew out the field,” he said.
Becker scored a 329 by combining the two 81s from Fluck and Sogard, then an 82 from Brandon Abrahamson (sixth place) and an 85 from Adam Schug(tied for eighth). Alex Stanz had an 87 and Caleb Foster a 91 to round out Becker’s scoring.
Second place went to St. Cloud Cathedral (345) and third went to Staples/Motley (365). Fourteen teams competed in the tournament.
“To have all six of my guys finish in the top 20 was great to see,” said Olson.
Albany's David Schneider shot a 73 and finished as the medalist for the Huskies. Sauk Centre's Carter Kranz finished second, shooting a 75. Rocori's Jeremy Peterson shot an 83 and took seventh to lead Rocori.

The boys travel to play in Jordan this weekend, then head to Albany Monday and to Elk River Wednesday to play in two conference meets.
