Although they played well, the Becker Bulldogs boys golf team finished their season this week, placing ninth out of the teams competing at sections.
For once the weather cooperated, with warm weather and sunshine on Wednesday and Thursday. Held at Headwaters Country Club in Park Rapids, the Bulldogs competed against Alexandria, Brainerd, Buffalo, Moorhead, Sartell-St. Stephen, St. Cloud Tech, Bemidji, Monticello, Willmar and Sauk Rapids-Rice.
Buffalo took top honors at sections with a team total of 297. Alexandria was one point behind with 298, followed closely by Moorhead with a team total of 302.
Bulldogs senior Austin Seavert, sophomore Zach Stanz and sophomore Tucker Rhodes advanced to the second day of the competition, but were ultimately shut out from the list of golfers heading to state.
Seavert was the Bulldogs’ low scorer for the two-day event, finishing with a total of 165. Stanz and Rhodes were close behind, however, the cut-off for advancing to state was 149.
Sophomore Ethan Tobako’s day one section’s score came in at 94, followed by senior Gavin Murphy with a 95 and sophomore Brock Ramola with a 124.
The Bulldogs’ team total was 345 at the end of the first day of sections, placing them ninth of the 11 teams competing.
