Boys Fall To 3 9 With Win Over Dc, Losses To Thunder, Eagles

The Bulldog boys basketball team went 1-2 this week, beating Dassel-Cokato, then losing to Apollo and Zimmerman.
 
Becker 77, DC, 75
Becker traveled to Dassel-Cokato last Friday night and came away with a two-point win in overtime.
 
Becker was led by Brandon Gustafson, who tallied 22 points, one assist and nine rebounds.
 
Dassel-Cokato was led by Sanders Aspilin, who recorded 25 points, two rebounds, three assists and was 8-for-8 from the field.
 
The Chargers charged into an early lead in the first half and held off the Bulldogs for a 36-31 lead when the buzzer sounded. The Bulldogs responded in the final frame with some great defense and out-scored the Chargers 35-30 to record a tie at the end of regulation.
 
In the extra frame, the Bulldogs notched 11 points to Dassel-Cokato’s nine to capture the win.

Apollo 78, Becker 72
Becker hosted St. Cloud Apollo Monday night and lost a nail-biter.
 
The Bulldogs had a hard time stopping Apollo’s Renell Edwards, who finished the night with 40 points. Eight Eagles made the scoresheet while Becker had nine, but Edwards could not be stopped.
 
Gustafson led the Bulldogs for the second game in a row with 22 points.
 
The game was close throughout, but Becker had a hard time getting over the hurdle each time down the court. The Eagles soared behind Edwards and also got double-digit scoring from Clifton Paterson, who tallied 12 points.
 
Becker got double-digit scoring from Gustafson, Dertinger (19) and Ricker (13).
 
Becker scoring: Gustafson 22, Dertinger 19, Ricker 13, Boser 7, Josh Fobbe 4, Quernemoen 2, Cole Benson 2, Callahan 2 and Justin Kringler 1.
 
Apollo scoring: Edwards 40, Paterson 12, Michael Gravelle 8, Deng Diew 7, Kyle Ripplinger 4, Elijah Edwards 3, Logan Johnson 2 and Jayden Lister 2.
 
Thunder 74, Bulldogs 69
The Bulldogs hit the road for Zimmerman Thursday and came home with a five-point loss to the Thunder.
 
Dertinger scored 21 and Gustafson 19, but the Bulldogs could not stop Zimmerman’s five-some of Dylan Martin, Ian Carlin, Jake Pensinger, Jeg Schottenbauer and Carter Mceachern, who all scored in double-digit fashion.
 
Becker scoring: Dertinger 21, Gustafson 19, Ricker 12, Mittelstaedt 8, Fobbe 2,  Kringler 2, Gabe Lindblom 2, Callahan 2 and Boser 1.
 
Zimmerman scoring: Martin 17, Pensinger 16, Carlin 15, Mcearchern 11, Schottenbauer 10, Sam Egland 3 and Nate Carlin 2.
