JUNIOR GUARD LUCAS DERTINGER scored 28 points combined in the two games his team had this week, but it wasn’t nearly enough as the Bulldogs fell to Cathedral and Rocori to drop to 8-8 on the year.

Boys Drop To .500 After Two Losses

The Becker Bulldog boys basketball team lost two games this week, one to St. Cloud Cathedral Tuesday and one to Rocori last Saturday.
 
Rocori 69, Becker 54
Hunter McCalla nearly scored half of Becker’s game total against the Spartans of Rocori as the Bulldogs lost by 15 Saturday in Rocori.
 
The Bulldogs had a hard time stopping Rocori’s dynamic duo of Sam Olson and Derek Thompson, who combined to score 48 of Rocori’s 69 points. Rocori capitalized on netting 23 points off turnovers compared to Becker’s 10.
 
Becker shot 37% from two-point range (14-38) and 44% from beyond the arc (8-18). They shot a healthy 90% from the free throw line, making 18 of 20 shots.
 
Rocori shot 46% from two-point terrain, making 26 baskets out of 56 shots. From three-point land, the Spartans were seven of 16 (44%). They made 10 of their 13 free throw shots (77%).

Cathedral 69, Becker 61
The Bulldogs lost a close game to host St. Cloud Tuesday, despite getting double-digit scoring from three players.
 
Dertinger, McCalla and Conzemius put up good numbers, but couldn’t overcome Cathedral’s solid play from their five core players. The Crusaders also got eight points from the bench as they improved to 12-4.
 
Becker dropped to 8-8.
 
The Bulldogs shot 40% from the field compared to Cathedral’s 47%. Both teams shot below par from outside the arc with Becker netting five of 20 shots and Cathedral six of 22. At the free throw line, Becker converted 10 of 15 shots while the Crusaders made nine of 12.

Cathedral scoring: Michael Schaefer 19, Mitchell Plombon 17, Jackson Baustian Jangula 9, Keaton LeClaire 8, Nicholas Schaefer 8 and Jacob Stoltzenberg 8.
