Boys Cross Country Celebrate With End Of Season Awards Banquet

In the awards night the Bulldogs reflected on the season that yielded many successes.

With thirty-six student-athletes on the roster, the team was the largest it has ever been with eighteen new XC runners and they accomplished some nice feats along the way together.

As a team the Bulldogs placed well in many meets including the highest recorded Granite Ridge conference placement and Section 8AA placement.  The Bulldogs also celebrated placing third at Princeton, taking second at home by just two points, and winning the Albany meet this season.

The season also yielded a couple of meet champion individuals as Basil Ricker and Kellen Hurt had both won their respective races when the team was at Albany earlier this season.

The coaches were proud to talk about the Granite Ridge conference performances as the Bulldogs earned two all-conference running honors and an honorable mention at that meet from the likes of Basil Ricker, Sam Ricker and Luke Pappenfus.

Additional conference awards were earned by Bulldogs for their performance in the classroom as David Myres, Sam Ricker and Evan Schafer earned all-conference academic awards.

These runners along with a long list of teammates have done well academically as many earned the Spotlight on Scholarship award and the team earned the Silver award for their cumulative team GPA.

Other awards that were presented during the night included the fifteen varsity letter earners, twenty-one participant awards, and team awards.  The Bulldog XC team recognized Basil Ricker as the team MVP, Justin Kringler as the most dedicated, Jake Nelson as the most improved, and Isaac Bauer as most improved on JV.

Additionally, the team honored Tyson Ricker as the rookie of the year and Lachlan Lahr with the bulldog award.

The team also spent time recognizing the contributions of the seven seniors.

Justin Kringler, Jon Novak, Luke Pappenfus, Lachlan Lahr, Erik Parson, Evan Schafer, and Jacob Drury have been running as Bulldogs for varying lengths of time, but their contributions have been commendable. There has been some great growth from this group as they learned to compete and as they pushed their team to always become better and share the love of running.

As the seniors shared a bit about what they’ve learned from their experiences on the Bulldog XC team it was clear that they have some quality characteristics that will help them continue on their positive paths.

Coach Weege states,”The seniors influence was evident throughout the season and the skills of the younger harriers seem to point in the direction of continued growth and improvements for the team.”

Coaches Dustin Weege, Patrick Drury, Trish Reimer-Kealy and Bonnie Kolbinger have been proud of all of the boys and girls Bulldog harriers for their accomplishments this season as they continue to work to throw off all that hinders and run the race of life with endurance.
